Star Gazers

Star Gazers

I did this shot in the Kozjak mountains near the Kozjak dam on the night of the super moon and meteor shower .Since the moon was so bright and i could not see the meteor showers i decided to play with my flash ,some friends and HDR technique to get the photo i envisioned in my mind and i came out 100% as i imagined it would be .The moon was just amazing and the stars so many stars  that you don’t see in the city because of the light pollution but here since it’s 35 minutes drive from the city the sky is clear as it can ever be plus there is a huge lake landscape which is breathtaking .

The technique i used here was a sb910 nikon flash to the camera right pointed to my friends the “Star Gazers”  because they were just silhouettes without the flash  but it worked out really well mixed in with the huge amounts of moon light.I mixed the flash exposure with the 4 exposures of the moon/stary skies to accomplish an even blend of light  so you can’t tell there was a flash present in this photo. It was just pure fun to see my friend holding the flash  used as a living human tripod along with the people who also came to see the meteor showers looking at us like we were clinically insane doing that photo shoot but  all in all it was a great vision to reality process which shows that if you adapt to the natures conditions as a photographer you can take great images even if the first plan did not work out .
